Master Popular Software with Learning Express

Wisconsin residents can now access LearningExpress “Popular Software Tutorials.” These are self-paced online tutorials on the most commonly used applications including Microsoft

Natural Standard will replace Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database (NMCD) on March 3, 2013

Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database (NMCD) and Natural Standard both provide evidence-based practice info on herbs, supplements, and natural medicines (ie Gingko or St. Johns Wort).

For the past few years, Affinity has been using Natural Medicines (NMCD) for this type of integrative medicine info. Our current access runs through March 2, 2013. In an effort to standardize library resources across Ministry and Affinity Health Systems, NMCD will be replaced with Natural Standard (new), which is what Ministry Health Care is currently using. We will have a few weeks with access to both resources to help make a smooth transition. Natural Standard  (new) seems to offer even more info than NMCD!

Natural Standard offers quick access to comprehensive, evidence-based, peer-reviewed information on foods, herbs, supplements and natural therapies. Reviews include interactions, adverse effects, allergies, efficacy, pregnancy/lactation data and mechanism of action. English, French and Spanish Patient Handouts are available.

Natural Standard will be in just about the same places as NMCD is on the Library Website.
Affinity Intranet > Library > Most Popular Links > Natural Standard

Try it now : Natural Standard
Training Webinars and Demonstrations are available here.
Archives of past training webinars can be viewed at any time.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this transition.

Back to Basics : Review of Library Services

If you need to review the clinical journal literature, or just need specific articles, let your Librarian help. PubMed/Medline Phobia? I can help you make informed decisions with the best evidence!

• Use the online Literature Search Request form to tell me what you’re looking for. I’ll run the search in Medline, PubMed, Cochrane, CINAHL (or other appropriate databases) and give you a list of article citations that match your search criteria.

Want specific articles? Send me the citations via email, fax or this Article Request Form, and I’ll send you the articles. In most cases, I can email you PDFs of articles, [following the Fair Use provision of US Copyright]. We have access to over 10,000 online journals. If we don’t have it, we can usually get it for you, at no cost to you.

• Don’t forget our collection of Lean, and Studer Group Management and Leadership books.

• Make an appointment to learn how to efficiently and effectively search Medline, PubMed, or Cinahl. I offer training on these specific databases as well as a personalized library orientation geared to your interests and information needs.

Find out what tools the Library offers that can make your work life easier!
