Natural Standard will replace Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database (NMCD) on March 3, 2013
Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database (NMCD) and Natural Standard both provide evidence-based practice info on herbs, supplements, and natural medicines (ie Gingko or St. Johns Wort).
For the past few years, Affinity has been using Natural Medicines (NMCD) for this type of integrative medicine info. Our current access runs through March 2, 2013. In an effort to standardize library resources across Ministry and Affinity Health Systems, NMCD will be replaced with Natural Standard (new), which is what Ministry Health Care is currently using. We will have a few weeks with access to both resources to help make a smooth transition. Natural Standard (new) seems to offer even more info than NMCD!
• Natural Standard offers quick access to comprehensive, evidence-based, peer-reviewed information on foods, herbs, supplements and natural therapies. Reviews include interactions, adverse effects, allergies, efficacy, pregnancy/lactation data and mechanism of action. English, French and Spanish Patient Handouts are available.
Natural Standard will be in just about the same places as NMCD is on the Library Website.
