Clinical Pharmacology / Micromedex


Effective 1/1/11 the official Affinity online drug information reference was changed from Micromedex to Clinical Pharmacology. Similar to Micromedex, Clinical Pharmacology can be used to answer a multitude of medication and patient care related questions, which include:



*   IV drug compatibility
*   Drug interactions
*   Appropriate medication dosing, indication for use, and monitoring
*   Medication adverse events and concerns
*   Drug identification
*   Drug overdose treatment

Access:
This new tool can be accessed by clicking on the Clinical Pharmacology link located under the applications icon on the Affinity Intranet Home page.

In addition, a link can be found under the pharmacy and library department web pages allowing access to this application.

Exceptions to use:


**** Although Clinical Pharmacology contains a database that can be used to provide patient education, we will not be using the information found in Clinical Pharmacology to provide patient education. CareNotes will remain our preferred database for printing information for patient education. ****
